Alphacrucis' Teaching HUB Model - NSW Budget Announcement

“The NSW Treasurer, Dominic Perrottet recently announced that the Alphacrucis College would receive $2.9 million to expand our Hub model of teacher training across regional NSW. This incredible news is a recognition that new innovations are required to improve our education sector, and that tertiary institutions like Alphacrucis will play a key part going forward.
This ‘Hub model’, initially trialled by Alphacrucis in the NSW Hunter region through the St. Philip's Christian College group (SPCC), has demonstrated significant success in addressing a range of Australia’s unique educational problems including curriculum reform to attract and retain the highest quality teachers, changing the way teachers enter the profession, addressing the regional ‘brain drain’ and enriching the learning experience for our children. Since 2018, it has expanded into dozens of schools across Australia, including the Teaching Schools Alliance Sydney (TSAS), Christian Education Ministries and the St Thomas Aquinas Teaching Schools Institute - Tasmania.
The $2.9 million will be used to fund the hub model for its next stage of development across State, Catholic and Independent schools, importantly funding the training of new teachers in new regional and remote school clusters in NSW, some with high concentrations of Australia’s most disadvantaged students. This would help meet a number of the NSW Premier’s stated priorities around education, economic growth, connected communities and regional development. It also provides the foundation for a broader roll-out of clinical training partnerships ‘on country, for country’.
