Alphacrucis University College and Gospel Conversations, in partnership with Jesus Collective and St James’ Institute, are delighted to be hosting a multi-day conference on cross-centred theology. KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Greg Boyd

Internationally recognised theologian, author, and Senior Pastor of Woodland Hills Church
Author of 22 books · Featured in The New York Times, CNN, NPR, and the BBC

Greg Boyd is an internationally recognised theologian, author, and Senior Pastor of Woodland Hills Church in St Paul, Minnesota. His work spans academic theology, Christian apologetics, and writing for a wider church audience. He has authored 22 books, including Letters from a Skeptic, The Myth of a Christian Nation, The Crucifixion of the Warrior God, and Cross Vision. He has also contributed to public discussions of theology and contemporary Christianity through appearances in The New York Times, CNN, NPR, and the BBC.

A central theme of Boyd’s work is the revelation of God in the crucified Christ. From this perspective, he explores questions of divine power, the problem of evil, violence in Scripture, Christian participation in politics, and the character of God. He holds a PhD from Princeton Theological Seminary and served for 16 years as Professor of Theology at Bethel University in St Paul. Alongside his scholarly and pastoral work, he is widely known as a public speaker and communicator on questions of faith, Scripture, and Christian discipleship.

DAY One · Research SYMPOSIUM

Theology of Power Symposium

Thursday 5 November 2026 · 8.30am – 4.30pm

Power is at the heart of the Christian faith: God’s power in creation, Christ’s power in weakness, the Spirit’s power in the church and the age to come. Yet power is also a source of tension and controversy in the church and in wider public life. This symposium gathers scholars from disciplines including systematic theology, biblical studies, and practical theology to consider how Christian theology can illuminate power and its uses, misuses, and transformations. Speakers include Greg Boyd together with Murray Rae, Maja Whitaker, Neil Ormerod, Christopher Holmes, Caitlin Olson, Adam Dodds, Ian Hussey, Rob Robayna, Ben Myers, and Louise Gosbell.
