Michael Murphy

Chairperson of Council - Pastor Michael Murphy

Pastor Michael Murphy is founder and CEO of Leaderscape. He is an ordained minister in the Australian Christian Churches, and currently mentors church, political and business leaders, and has founded and continues to serve on various boards.

Michael was senior pastor of Shirelive Church for 18 years and previously served on the pastoral staff at Hillsong Church. He is an alumnus of Alphacrucis College and has a MA in leadership studies. Michael is married to Valery, and has three adult children who are actively involved in church ministry.

President - Professor Stephen Fogarty

Stephen Fogarty, President of Alphacrucis College, has worked in Christian Higher Education for over 20 years and Christian ministry for over 35 years. Before becoming Principal of Alphacrucis College in 1998 he worked as an economist, before transitioning to full-time ministry as a pastor, church planter, and college lecturer.

He is an ordained minister in the Australian Christian Churches, and currently serves on the executive of World Alliance for Pentecostal Theological Education. He also serves on the board of Asia Pacific Theological Seminary, and chairs the Asia Pacific Theological Association.

Stephen is an alumnus of Alphacrucis College. He has a BA (Economics), Dip Min, MA (Theology), and PhD in Organisational Leadership. Stephen’s research explores transformational leadership, particularly the relationship between senior pastors’ leadership and volunteers’ motivation.

He is married to Sandra and has three adult children and three grandchildren.

Chair of Academic Board -  Professor Lily Arasaratnam-Smith

In addition to being Chair of Academic Board, Lily is the Director of Learning and Faculty Development and a Professor in Communication. Prior to her time at Alphacrucis, Lily was a lecturer in the Department of International Communication at Macquarie University, and an Assistant Professor at the Department of Speech Communication in Oregon State University. Lily's research expertise is in intercultural communication, and she is a member of the International Association for Intercultural Research and an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Intercultural Relations.

James Mcpherson

Member Elected by Members of Company - Pastor James Macpherson

James Macpherson is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Christian Church. Since he took on the leadership of the church in 2007, it has expanded from 1 campus to 9 across throughout Australia and South Africa.  

Pastor James is the President of Calvary Leadership College, which has 100 students enrolled in full time ministry training. On top of that, he is the Chairman of Calvary Christian College, a P-12 independent Christian school with 800 students. 

Prior to leading Calvary Christian Church, James worked as a journalist for News Limited, writing for Brisbane’s Courier-Mail and Sydney’s Daily Telegraph. He has been interviewed on Sydney’s 2UE with Alan Jones and his hour-long interview with political commentator Andrew Bolt was screened nationally in prime time on Sky News. 

When not building the church, is most often found kicking the football with his twin sons Joseph and Benjamin.

Desleigh Davies is the Human Resources Officer of Alphacrucis College.

Member Elected by Students - Mr Craig Hall

Craig served two years on the Academic Board, is an Alphacrucis alumnus and has Board experience in non-profit organisations. He holds a CIV TAA, B Economics, MA(Christian Studies) and a M Research in early Christianity and is undertaking a PhD. His book on economics of an Australian industry is on the NSW Department of Education list of recommended texts.

Craig has experience in the Quality Control division of the RTO regulator VETAB (now TEQSA), as an Executive Business Consultant, and in senior finance roles in Local Government.

He is the founder and Executive Officer of Wildfire Community Hub Inc., an applied Social Enterprise model, and is a founding member of a regulatory panel of Parramatta City Council.

Scott Haslem

Member with Financial Expertise - Mr Scott Haslem

Scott Haslem is a Managing Director, the Chief Economist & Head of Macro research for UBS in Australia & New Zealand, which continues to rank at the top of both equities and fixed income research polls. Scott has more than 20 years'experience in wholesale and international financial markets. Prior to joining UBS, he spent seven years working for the Reserve Bank of Australia, primarily in the economic activity and forecasting section. Scott holds an Honours degree in Economics from the University of Queensland and a Masters of Economics degree from the Australian National University.

Member with Commercial Expertise - Dr Stephen Crouch

Stephen has more than 30 years’ within the financial services industry (Corporate Advisory, Insurance, Accounting, Audit, AFSL, Taxation). He also serves as a chair and director for a number of companies.

Stephen has been part of the ACC movement throughout that time and has been actively involved in his church and a range ministries in leadership capacities.Stephen is an honorary Associate of Alphacrucis College. He has a Bachelor of Business, Master of Economics and Doctor of Business Administration (MGSM). Stephen has been recognised as a Fellow by Chartered Accountants (Australia & New Zealand) and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Member with Higher Education Expertise - Assoc Prof Stuart Piggin

Associate Professor Stuart Piggin is Director of the Centre for the History of Christian Thought and Experience at Macquarie University. He is a graduate of the Universities of Sydney and London and of the Melbourne College of Divinity. He lectured in Religious History in the Universities of Wollongong and Sydney 1974-1990 and was Master of Robert Menzies College at Macquarie University, 1990-2004. His areas of research include the study of evangelical Christianity, missions, and revivals, and the human response to disasters. He has written over 100 articles for academic journals and seven books, including Making Evangelical Missionaries, a prosopographical study of 550 missionaries to India, Evangelical Christianity in Australia, published by OUP and now in its third edition, and Firestorm of the Lord, a study of revival.
