About this Opportunity:

The Graduate Research School Officer supports the Graduate Research School Director in administration of AC’s HDR programs, and supports HDR candidates through events, networks, and other research activities.

  • Academic administration of current and potential HDR candidates;
  • Assisting the Graduate Research School Director in administration of AC’s Graduate Research School courses (PhD, MPhil, Honours, professional doctorates), including enquiries, admissions, induction and ongoing support of candidates, annual reports, and periodic reviews;
  • Managing and updating the Moodle pages for HDR candidates and supervisors;
  • Coordinating team meetings and fostering a positive team spirit within AC Research and the Graduate Research School;
  • Working collaboratively with AC faculty and external academics regarding Confirmation of Candidature Panels, thesis examinations, and other events related to HDR candidates;
  • Organising, promoting, and facilitating research events and networks involving HDR candidates;
  • Where suitable, providing teaching assistance in research coursework subjects as required by the Graduate Research School Director.

Required Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Bachelor-level academic qualification is required for this role. Successful completion of a postgraduate degree is desirable.
  • Experience in academic administration is required, preferably incorporating academic administration and student support.
  • Understanding of the structure of Australian HDR programs, including admissions, supervision, milestones, and examination;
  • Understanding of the Australian tertiary research environment;
  • Understanding of the mission of higher education and research within the church;
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Planner, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Proven people skills grounded in respect for others and demonstrated in a range of contexts including administrative teams;
  • Ability to communicate clearly, courteously and effectively with colleagues and constituents, especially through email;
  • Ability to acquire new skills in relevant software applications (e.g. Formsite, Wagtail, Moodle, Coda, and other applications necessary for the work of the Graduate Research School);
  • Commitment to the Christian faith that informs one’s professional and personal choices and commitments.
