About this Opportunity:

The Student Experience Officer’s primary role is interacting with prospective students and guiding a student from their first orientation to their graduation. The primary focus of this role is the provision of academic and pastoral support; providing information to students to enable them to successfully engage with campus life and study, access relevant services and achieve academic goals.

The Student Experience Officer works proactively and reactively to ensure each student is able to make the most of their educational experience. Reactively, they ensure that students receive prompt and decisive help when they are in need of advice, support or have a complaint. Proactively they connect students to every opportunity provided by AC and partners that may be helpful and relevant to them. Success is measured by student retention and satisfaction with their ‘out of classroom’ experience of AC.

This key function is also responsible in liaison with the Brisbane Campus Director to develop key relationships to increase AC’s market share within QLD & NT church networks to grow AC’s profile and presence in QLD & NT.

  • Provide accurate and timely information and advice to commencing and enrolled students in relation to their studies at AC;
  • Assist the Campus Director in fostering and organising a pleasant campus community environment, including: chapel, orientation, open nights, graduation and social events;
  • Provide pastoral care, guidance, and academic tutorial service as required;
  • Liaise with the Director of Student Services to gather information, stay informed and implement systems related to Student Services;
  • Monitor and report on student attendance and progress;
  • Facilitate effective relationships, interactions and communication through activities, social media and other engagement strategies;
  • Developing key relationships to increase AC’s market share within QLD & NT church networks including new Local Church Colleges (LCC’s) and or Partner Colleges;
  • Liaising with the Brisbane Campus Director to assist developing AC’s reach and presence;
  • Building and maintaining strong positive relationships with QLD & NT LCC representatives;
  • Perform administrative support for the planning and facilitation of internal events (e.g. intensives, staff, and student functions) and external events (e.g. Public Lectures, Pastor's Events, etc.);
  • Liaising with AC Marketing Department regarding promotions, conferences, information nights and enquiries;
  • Co-ordinate potential student enquiries and follow through to enrolment where possible;
  • Perform other duties as the Campus Director may require.

Required Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Employment experience in an academic setting would be an advantage;
  • Commitment to the Christian faith and understanding of the mission of vocational and higher education within the church;
  • Must be a great people person with the ability to establish and nurture relationships;
  • Skilled at communicating politely and diplomatically;
  • Positive attitude under pressure and flexibility when accepting tasks
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and skilled in leadership, problem-solving, and written and oral communication;
  • A high level of confidence and capability with technology.
