About this Opportunity:

An excellent opportunity exists at AC for a Director of Accreditation and Standards to provide leadership and oversight for AC’s accreditation activities and maintenance of academic standards. The purpose of this position is to lead a small team tasked with accreditation projects that support AC’s development goals and strategic objectives, and to ensure regular compliance activities are undertaken at a high level of quality to ensure ongoing compliance with relevant government standards.


Responsibilities :

  • Support the Vice President Academic (VPA) as AC works towards achieving University status over the next 5 years;
  • Provide leadership, oversight and coordination of major applications and notifications to TEQSA, ASQA and other government and regulatory bodies;
  • Assist the VPA in ensuring AC complies with the Threshold Standards and the VET Quality Framework at all times and is able to demonstrate its compliance;
  • Ensure diligent reporting to relevant government agencies as required in support of point (c);
  • Collaborate productively with other AC departments including development, faculty, quality assurance, research, and learning and teaching;
  • Committee involvement in academic governance (e.g. Development Committee, Academic Board);
  • Represent AC in external forums as required;
  • Perform other occasional duties as the VPA may require.

Required Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Successful experience in academic leadership and administration at the college or university level incorporating previous work in accreditation and/or compliance;
  • Successful leadership of accreditation or quality-related projects requiring mature collaboration and constructive engagement with multiple stakeholders;
  • Substantial administrative experience within the education sector;
  • Previous experience working with TEQSA and ASQA;
  • Understanding of the relevant Standards and Frameworks that guide the regulation of vocational and higher education in Australia;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively;
  • Proven people-skills grounded in a genuine respect for others and demonstrated in a range of contexts including administrative teams and internal and external constituencies;
  • Advanced skills in written and oral communication;
  • High level proficiency in computer skills;
  • Commitment to the Christian faith that informs one’s professional and personal choices and commitments.
