About this Opportunity:

Responsible to oversee the delivery of cognate VET programs, such as the Certificate III in Allied Health Support, the Diploma of Nursing etc. The role may also include lecturing in Health and Human sciences in the relevant HE programs of the College.

  • Providing leadership and oversight of the VET programs, and generally overseeing the delivery of the qualifications. This includes the ongoing improvement of these programs (annual) and preparation for re-accreditation of the programs (as required by ASQA accreditation and program renewal processes);
  • Assisting the planning of unit and subject design and delivery in the relevant program on approved campuses and delivery modes through the development of the timetables, in consultation with the Registrar and Campus Directors;
  • Content and accreditation pathway development.
  • Teaching (lecture preparation and delivery), marking and provision of assessment feedback to students within VET programs as required within College Workload calculator;
  • Content, competency and subject development and administration;
  • Continued professional engagement in the discipline area and with regard to ASQA requirements through ongoing study, community involvement and research;
  • Providing learning and program advice to students in the relevant qualification and overseeing the provision of academic advice by relevant faculty and sessional staff;
  • Monitoring student progress and retention issues, and reporting and advising on these to Registry and the related College committees;
  • Providing information to the Marketing Department to assist in the promotion of cognate qualifications and programs;
  • Participating in various academic and organisational committees as required;
  • Representing the College to the Christian community and general public as opportunity and occasion warrant;
  • Working with the Office of Development and the School of Health and Human Sciences in the development of new programs and applications.

Required Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Completion of an earned VET diploma in a cognate area, and Certificate IV TAE (16); significant industry based training in Allied Health or Nursing.
  • Experience in Aged Care and/or Nursing in Australia, preferably as a Registered Nurse.
  • Evidence of successful teaching in VET programs, and of professional achievement at leadership level;
  • Understanding of VET in Schools pathways, and NESA requirements, or the willingness to learn this.
  • Student and industry focused: committed to providing exceptional student experience in programs and providing service to partners.
  • Communication: the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience.
  • Attention to detail: excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally.
  • Teamwork: willingness to assist and support others as required and get on with team members.
  • Time management/organisation: accomplish objectives effectively within time frame given, and carry out administrative duties within portfolio in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Significant understanding of and demonstrated sympathy with an orthodox evangelical Christian approach to professional vocation and in particular the value and practice of Health Sciences.
