Unit Content

Outcomes

1. Analyse and evaluate the biblical and historical background for children’s ministry. This includes consideration of other Christian perspectives and understandings;
2. Appraise the breadth of children’s ministry strategies and analyse a variety of approaches to children’s ministry;
3. Formulate and justify the skills necessary for effective ministry to children;
4. Assess and evaluate methods of ensuring ministry is child safe and child friendly;
5. Compose and critique administration, resourcing and logistic strategies necessary to facilitate an effective children’s event

1. Biblical, historical, and theological models for children’s ministry
2. Children’s ministry in today’s contexts
3. Legal and ethical issues in children’s ministry
4. Generation ministry within the vision of the church/ministry strategic planning
5. Pastoral care of children
6. Skills and creativity in children’s ministry
7. Behaviour management
8. Working with schools
9. Programming, administration and logistics

This course may be offered in the following formats

• Face-to-Face (onsite)
• Distance/E-Learning (online)
• Intensive (One week: 7 hours per day for 5 days = 35 class hours + approx 95 hours out of class time for research, writing, exam preparation and execution, ancillary activities associated with completion of assigned tasks.)
