Ever wondered what the doctrine of Trinity is all about? Or, what it means that God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit? Is the doctrine of the Trinity merely some antiquated intellectual proposition, or, does this doctrine hold significant practical relevance to Christian life and the Church? This course is designed to answer these questions and to give you a depth of understanding about the nature and being of God as Triune. The course will look at how the doctrine is derived from Scripture and was developed over the first centuries of the early Church, delving into the reasons why it was so important for Christian views regarding the deity of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, the doctrine of Creation, the nature of Church and Worship, as well the very concept of Salvation. The course will engage with the nexus of philosophical metaphysics and theology, as well as cover the significance of the contemporary renaissance of the doctrine for modern views of human well-being, politics and society, gender and intra-religious dialogue. This course will change and deepen your views about God and the radical significance of who God is for life, ministry and the foundations of human existence.
