Unit Content

Outcomes

  1. Identify for themselves a question to be posed or a topic to be investigated in the particular subject area;
  2. Describe a satisfactory method for resolving the question or for researching the topic;
  3. Create a working bibliography for the area of their research;
  4. Show an informed competence in descriptive, critical and analytic skills with respect to the topic of their research;
  5. Produce a piece of work which is clearly expressed and well argued;
  6. Present the results of their research at a class seminar;
  7. Engage constructively and critically with the research of other students.

Subject Content

The topic of interest is arranged in consultation with the lecturer and approved by the appropriate academic authority.

This course may be offered in the following formats

  • Face to Face (onsite)
  • Distance/E-learning (online)
  • Intensive (One week: 7 hours per day for 5 days = 35 class hours + approx 85 hours out of class time for research, writing, exam preparation and execution, ancillary activities associated with completion of assigned tasks)
