Course Description
The purpose of this course is to equip students to operate effectively in full time ministry. The course equips students with the depth of knowledge and skills necessary to provide structured ministry to others and lead ministry teams in the church or other Christian context. The skills and knowledge acquired will allow students to effectively undertake tasks that are typical in various types of ministries, such as pastoring, teaching, preaching, and leading. It will also equip students to create solutions to complex and unpredictable problems in the ministry context. The course will develop the skills necessary for students to take responsibility for a specific ministry program.
Upon completion of this qualification, learners will have acquired the necessary knowledge, attitudes and skills to serve effectively as ministers or leaders in the church or para-church organisations.
Course Structure
To achieve the qualification 11090NAT Advanced Diploma of Christian Ministry the learner must complete twelve units:
- six core units; and
- six elective units.
- At least one unit must be selected from groups A, B, and C.
- Elective units may be selected from the general elective units listed below. Electives may also be selected from a relevant field to ministry from any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma; a maximum of two units may be selected from a Diploma level course.
- Elective units must be relevant to the work outcome and local industry requirements.
- A statement of attainment will be issued for any unit of competency completed if the full qualification is not completed.

Entry Requirements
Essential entry requirements
11089AT Diploma of Christian Ministry or equivalent, or at least 3 years of vocational experience in ministry.
Recommended entry requirements
Recommended entry requirements likely to facilitate successful completion of the course by intended participants include:
- A sound level of ability in written and spoken English. For prospective students from an English-speaking background, successful completion of the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or its equivalent (including articulation from other AQF programs), including demonstration of competency in English is recommended.
- For prospective students from a non-English speaking background, an IELTS Score of 5.5 (or demonstrate equivalent English proficiency) is recommended.

Career Opportunities
Completion of this course may enable the graduate to apply for ordination in the Australian Christian Churches and other Christian movements and denominations.
