This qualification reflects the role of individuals who possess a sound theoretical knowledge base and use a range of specialised, technical and managerial competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate the work of yourself and your team in the film, television, radio and digital media industries.

Course Description

In an exciting endeavour, AC has partnered with 4B Media, an industry leader in broadcast television, online, and social media content, to offer an online Diploma of Screen and Media. You will learn how to edit, film, and direct. This hands-on course will give you practical training and experience in all aspects of screen media from pre- to post-production and equip you with the tools and skills necessary to confidently step into the professional screen and media industry. You will get to hone skills that are fundamental to film, television and media production, and the required standards of practice, within a thriving media production house environment.

Course Structure

This course comprises 15 units of competency to be completed over 1 year full time and consists of:

  • 4 Core Units
  • 11 Electives Units

To be awarded the Diploma of Screen and Media, students must show competency in 15 units.

Entry Requirements

Essential Requirements: Nil.

Academic Requirements: This course is available for those students who are 16 years or older and have completed Year 10.

Recommended Requirements: For prospective students from a non-English speaking background, an IELTS Score of 5.5 (or demonstrate equivalent English proficiency) is recommended.

Additional Requirements: This program requires a government issued Unique Student Identifier (USI) number. See http://www.usi.gov.au/ for details and to secure your USI.

After graduating from this program, you should expect to have acquired the skills necessary to work in a variety of screen and media-based roles, ranging from cinematography to script-writing. Uniquely, graduates may have the opportunity to have production credits to their name by the time of their graduation.


Meet Your Tutor

Adam McLeod is a man passionate about Message and Media. Since a young age, being inspired by the power of the marriage of live music, film and story, he has pursued these avenues of expression and creativity through Media. Since studying broadcast television for many years at Hillsong College, he has worked through many realms of film and television, ranging from a story board artist, to Live Concert Film Directing, to Broadcast Television editing. You'll find him managing a team of incredibly talented individuals who produce an amazing quality and quantity of Broadcast television on a weekly basis, and training up students in skills of Film Pre Production, and Editing through 4B Media Film School.
