About this Opportunity:

The Director of Quality Assurance and Standards leads the implementation of quality assurance systems and frameworks, to ensure the continuing high quality of all Alphacrucis University College (AC) courses, in alignment with the mission and strategic direction of the College, as well as the requirements of the Higher Education Standards Framework (HESF), Vocational Education and Training (VET) Quality Framework, and National Micro-credentials (MC) Framework.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects and activities related to developing, monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on the impact of, quality assurance systems and frameworks in Higher Education, VET, and MC, across multiple campuses and Third-Party Arrangements (TPA), including but not limited to:
    • mitigating risks to academic quality
    • enhancing the student experience
    • overseeing periodic independent reviews
    • conducting periodic internal audits
  • Maintain ongoing positive relationships with Third Parties, including support for and review of TPA operations.
  • Lead and manage direct reports in the Quality Assurance and Standards team.
  • Lead the professional development of AC staff and Third Parties in relation to Standards and the enhancement of academic quality.
  • Contribute to Academic Governance through membership of Academic Board, Learning and Teaching Committee, Quality Assurance Committee, Accreditation Committee, and others, including performing the role of Chair as required.
  • Lead internal monitoring of grades as well as external moderation and benchmarking arrangements to drive continuous improvement of courses.
  • Lead the development and submission of applications in relation to course accreditation, renewal of registration, CRICOS, quality auditing, and regulatory data provision requirements.
  • Lead the review and maintenance of courses on the National Register and Scope of Registration.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of industry partnerships, including the collection of evidence, to drive continuous improvement of courses and the student experience.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop new opportunities for delivery of Higher Education, VET, and short courses.

Required Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Completion of post-graduate qualifications from an Australian university.
  • A doctorate in a relevant discipline would be highly regarded, but is not an essential requirement of the role.
  • Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Diploma of Quality Auditing is desirable.
  • A willingness to undertake further study and/or professional development is required.
  • Leading academic quality assurance activities and projects in Higher Education and VET.
  • Academic governance, including enterprise risk management and applying policy to internal and external operations.
  • Managing TPA in a tertiary environment.
  • Submitting applications to regulators and professional accrediting authorities for course accreditation, renewal of registration, CRICOS, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding the mission of Higher Education and VET within the Church.
  • Understanding developments in the tertiary sector and leading change accordingly.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Higher Education Standards Framework, VET Quality Framework, ESOS Act, National Code 2018, and National Micro-credentials Framework.
  • Understanding of Professional Accrediting Authority requirements, including NESA, PACFA, CPA, and others.
  • Strategic thinking, project management, commercial planning, and leading teams.
  • High level interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills, and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to lead and manage large projects, independently and collaboratively, through effective people and time management.
  • Effective reporting to internal governing bodies, external agencies, and regulators as required.
  • Commitment to the Christian faith that inform one’s professional and personal choices and commitments.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Flexibility and initiative to meet the changing needs of the College.
  • Participation in relevant professional bodies in discussion with management.
