About this opportunity:

Alphacrucis University College (AUC) is undergoing a process of organisational maturation as we prepare to apply for University status. We are looking for a leader equipped to scale our systems and processes along with the organisation.

Broadly this will require: (i) a focus on business system improvement, (ii) a collaborative leadership approach as you partner with managers across the organisation to achieve business outcomes, and (iii) the ability to lead a department of domain experts working on integration and enhancement projects. AUC is a distributed organisation, so this will be achieved by working with managers and employees spread across Australia.

Your new team:

Alphacrucis University College (AC) is Christian college with a reputation for excellence in training, teaching, and research. AC has students worldwide, served via 7 campuses throughout Australia and New Zealand and via our online campus.

Whilst we are Christian in heritage and values, we welcome students of all worldviews. We offer qualifications from VET Certificate to Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees in Ministry, Theology, Business, Education, Social Science/Counselling, Music/Media and Chaplaincy. Our vision is to be a global Christian university, transforming neighbourhoods and nations.

We are undergoing significant transformative change which brings opportunity for innovation, progressive thinking, breaking with convention, challenging the status quo, and improving the world around us.

Responsibilities:

Along with general department responsibilities, some specific examples of challenges we will depend on your leadership for over the next five years will likely include:

  • Advancing AUC’s security posture to “Maturity Level Two”, in line with the Australian Cyber Security Centre’s Essential Eight Maturity Model.
  • Following from the above will most likely include a series of projects such as: implementing a single sign on solution across the organisation, adopting device management systems more suitable to the College’s scale, improving our business continuity plans, and leading the creation of formal organisational policy on information security.
  • Over the next five years new ERP-style systems appropriate for a University will need to be adopted, and you will manage the implementation and integration of these systems in partnership with internal stakeholders and external vendors. These systems will most likely be SaaS products and could include a curriculum management system, a timetabling management system, or perhaps a migration to a different learning management system.
  • Data will need to flow between these disparate systems so integration projects will become increasingly important to ensure operational efficiency, data integrity, and to enhance decision making by managers and executive. Projects in this area will range from simple 1:1 API integrations, through to the centralisation of data within a data warehouse, and the creation of associated business intelligence systems.

In your role you will work as part of a Christian organisation and participate in staff and student events, such as Chapel, as part of your working week. Alphacrucis College offers opportunities for career progression as well as a great work/life balance and a friendly family orientated environment.

Required Skills and Proficiencies:

  • The generalist business knowledge and communication skills required to communicate with your executive peers
  • The specialist technical knowledge and up to date management skills required to manage a diverse team of application support analysts, system administrators, developers and technical support staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, and in particular, high levels of emotional intelligence
  • Required education: a Bachelors degree in either Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred education: a Masters degree in either Educational Administration, Computer Science, or Business Administration, or related field.
  • Relevant experience in an educational setting, specifically related to technology and information system planning in support of organisation goals.
