Purpose

This policy outlines the criteria and procedures for conferral of the Alphacrucis University College (AC) Distinguished Alumni Awards. These awards recognise the achievement of alumni who have accomplished outstanding success in their field and made exemplary contributions to their community.

Policy

AC is committed to honouring its distinguished alumni through two separate awards: Distinguished Alumni Award and Young Distinguished Alumni Award. These awards will be conferred at the annual AC graduation ceremony. Nominees should meet the following criteria:

Distinguished Alumni Award

This award is presented to an AC graduate who:

  • exemplifies the AC Graduate Attributes;
  • demonstrates a continued contribution to AC;
  • has made a significant contribution to the Christian church, their vocation and/or the broader community

Young Distinguished Alumni Award

This award is presented to an AC graduate who:

  • is 40 years old or younger in the year of the award;
  • exemplifies the AC Graduate Attributes;
  • demonstrates continued contribution to AC; and
  • has made a significant contribution to the Christian church, their vocation and/or the broader community which is likely to be an inspiration to the next generation of graduates.

Alumni who have been previously nominated but were not selected may be nominated again at any time.

Procedures

Distinguished Alumni Awards Procedure

  1. Members of the AC Council, Staff, Faculty, Alumni and Students are invited to nominate recipients for Distinguished Alumni Awards;
  2. The online AC Distinguished Alumni Awards Nomination Form should be completed by 31st October each year;
  3. Nominations are tabled by the Donor Relations and Alumni Manager to Executive;
  4. Executive will make a recommendation to the Membership and Selection Committee;
  5. Membership and Selection Committee will make a recommendation to Council for approval;
  6. The Donor Relations and Alumni Manager will contact the recipients and arrange for conferral of the awards at the annual AC graduation ceremony. AC will cover the relevant expenses, including transportation and accommodation for the recipient and a guest for attending the graduation.
