Dr Vanessa Miller

Postdoctoral Researcher in Education
Biography

Vanessa Miller is a Postdoctoral Researcher working in the Teaching School Hubs project (NECSTEP). She has over thirty years' experience in Queensland and New South Wales schools as a primary school teacher, head of primary, school counsellor, preschool manager and behaviour consultant.

Vanessa is committed to laying the foundations for teachers and school leaders to think Christianly about teaching and leading, and to cultivate human flourishing for the sake of the common good by growing in their understanding of the role of education as a process of human formation and holistic development.

She has a particular interest in learning environment design and learner-responsive pedagogy, inspired by two study visits to the municipal schools of Reggio Emilia in Italy. This interest led to her doctoral studies on the potential of a participatory design process to create learning environments conducive to contemporary learning approaches and the enhancement of wellbeing.

Vanessa is a member of the Teaching School Hubs (NECSTEP) research cluster.
