This subject provides a framework for students to observe professional teaching in action and to consider how this actualises and embodies evidence-based theory and practice and evidences a Christian worldview. Students are required to analyse how teaching and learning theory is applied in educational contexts and to develop a foundational knowledge of what constitutes good practice. This subject provides a working context for the application and discussion of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers together with related policies and procedures

Outcomes

  1. Identify and discuss the essential elements and principles of effective teaching and learning through observing professional teachers in action.
  2. Describe engaging, effective teaching and learning environments and discuss how these embody related evidence-based theory and evidence a Christian worldview.
  3. Discuss how the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers are integrated and applied in professional practice.
  4. Work in a professional learning community to synthesise and illustrate the key aspects of effective teaching and learning based on experiential learning observations.
