Exploring Biblical Scholarship and Community Engagement: 2025 Academic Conference at Alphacrucis University College
Sydney, 17 October 2025 — Alphacrucis University College hosted a successful academic conference jointly organised by the Graduate Research Committee and the Korean Language Program, bringing together scholars, pastors, students, and community media representatives for a day of rich theological reflection and academic dialogue. Approximately 90 participants attended, including Korean HDR candidates, AC Korean language lecturers and students, Sydney Korean church pastors, and members of the Korean community media.
A Distinguished Keynote Address
The event opened with a keynote lecture from Dr Yoon Cheol-Won, Former Vice-Chancellor of Seoul Theological University. Dr Yoon presented a compelling paper titled “The Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25–37) and an Analysis of the Validity of Traditional Readings.”
His lecture revisited one of the most well-known parables in the New Testament, questioning longstanding interpretative traditions and offering fresh insights into the cultural, historical, and narrative contexts of the passage. Attendees engaged enthusiastically with Dr Yoon’s critical yet pastoral approach to the text.
