  1. Outline a biblical basis for pastoral ministry and differentiate between various facets of pastoral ministry and chaplaincy;
  2. Identify ethical standards for pastoral and spiritual care work, and develop the skills to establish relationships with referral networks;
  3. Review and reflect on the effective provision of care and the professional responsibilities required for pastoral and spiritual care work, including record-keeping and facilitating meetings;
  4. Identify effective communication strategies for a range of contexts;
  5. Distinguish pastoral issues as they relate to the wellbeing of the chaplain and pastoral care workers.
