Effective discipleship is pivotal for fostering spiritual growth within a church community. This subject prepares students to guide church members through a structured discipleship program, focusing on spiritual disciplines and personal growth goals. Learners will develop skills in creating and maintaining supportive relationships, modelling Christian values, and evaluating discipleship outcomes.
1. Plan to disciple a church member
2.Support a disciple to grow
3.Review and conclude the discipleship relationship
Assessment 1: Develop a plan to disciple another church member to enable growth over 7 weeks (about 2 months)
Identify a person to disciple within your church, then collaborate with them to develop a discipleship plan that lasts at least 7 weeks (approximately 2 months). This must include at least four formal meetings (discussing the discipleship plan, goals, progress, etc.) and at least two informal connections (phone calls, text messages, conversations in the church foyer, etc.).
You will need to obtain consent from the disciple to create a written record of the process throughout the term.
Assessment 2: Disciple a church member for 7 weeks
Follow the discipleship plan from Assessment 1 over 7 weeks (approximately 2 months), keeping a log of your own progress and the discipleship process.
The person you disciple will need to fill out an evaluation at the end of the time, so please make sure they are aware of this before they begin.
