Missions & Cross Cultural Ministry
At AC, we are passionate about serving our students, but we are also passionate about serving peoples at home and abroad who are isolated from a relationship with God by cultural and linguistic barriers. For that reason, we have a wide range of modules, subjects and programs delivered in many different ways at various levels of study to overcome those challenges.
Throughout the year we offer short courses including STINT (Short Term Intercultural Nationwide Training), a four day course that prepares students for short term mission trips of up to one year. In those days, participants gain tools that could otherwise take years to acquire– these can really make the difference between an effective and satisfying, or a disappointing and frustrating short term mission venture.
For students seeking a more in-depth look into cross cultural ministry, the six week World Harvest Institute intensive is invaluable. The World Harvest Institute grew out of the need for good solid basic training for people intending to make a career in missions. More information about these courses is at the bottom of the page.

The STINT programme, designed for those going to the field for up to a year, is rapidly becoming recognised as the key resource for people and churches planning to invest in short term missions. STINT fills the gap between the longer training courses needed for long term missionaries, and the ‘no training at all’ option. It is perfect for the short term worker. Even people planning on a few weeks ministry trip in another country will gain valuable insights while those planning on longer stays should consider it a must.
In one week, participants gain tools that could take years to acquire from sad experience – these can really make the difference between an effective and satisfying, or a disappointing and frustrating short term mission venture.
Mission organisations are recognising the tremendous potential of Short Term mission ventures – potential for great benefit or great hurt, both for the participants and those in the host nation. But the difference between success and disaster is often a simple matter of appropriate training.
In the words of one Missionary leader, “Everyone possible should go – but no one should go without training – yet no one should be forced to undergo more training than they need for their immediate mission!” STINT uniquely meets this need for those going for up to a year.
Unable to attend a course? STINT is now offered as a Distance Package for individual users. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Group packages are also available.
This course is part of the Certificate IV in Ministry (Cross Cultural Ministry), and is endorsed by ACC International, under whose auspices it was originally developed.
Since its inception in 1986, World Harvest Institute has trained thousands of successful missionaries in Australia, Britain, New Zealand, Philippines, PNG and Malaysia. Its graduates have been successful ministers of the Gospel of Jesus in dozens of countries and all continents (except Antarctica).
World Harvest Institute grew out of the need for good solid basic training for people intending to make a career in missions.
Founders, Pastors Kevin & Glenys Hovey, were long term missionaries in PNG and, remembering their own early field experiences without significant training, knew the value of pre-field training. They gained long experience in PNG, during which time Kevin served in many roles up to the position of Field Leader which including assisting new field workers to integrate into effective cross cultural ministry. They also studied at internationally recognized Fuller Theological College’s School of World Missions. This gave them insights on training new candidates and adding value to the experience of long serving missionaries.
Now as part of Alphacrucis College’s Diploma of Ministry (Cross Cultural Ministry), and with a proven track record spanning over two decades, World Harvest Institute continues to be the Mission Training of choice for individuals and organisations. Its comprehensive, intense structure maximises value in the shortest possible time while maintaining a focus for effective long term mission service.
