About this Opportunity:

The Program Director of VET Chaplaincy & Community Services is responsible for the effective functioning of the VET Chaplaincy & Community Services programs in the School of Health and Human Sciences. Working closely with the Head of School, Director of Undergraduate Studies, Faculty Operations and Student Experience teams, the Program Director provides oversight for VET programs and their delivery in AC’s various campuses and modes.

Responsibilities:

PROGRAM OVERSIGHT

  • Participate in the application and admission process for all new applicants, including the special or provisional admission of a student
  • Provide oversight to student progression, including academic advice and advancement, and professional readiness relevant to course
  • Participate in grade monitoring, monitor students’ course progression following internal monitoring of grades process, including determining the outcome of any student appeal for non-progression
  • Represent the School’s VET/HE Diploma students in Student Affairs committee.
  • Review documents related to reported instances of student misconduct
  • In conjunction with registry and faculty operations teams, check eligibility of students to graduate
  • Appoint teachers, trainers, tutors and markers as per course allocations.
  • Along with Head of School and relevant Discipline Leaders, provide leadership for the improvement of VET/HE Diploma programs, including structure, content, pathways, and enrolments.
  • Participate in the semester preparation management including timetabling and other course processes
  • Produce relevant reports for the annual academic report

COURSE DEVELOPMENT

  • Develop course material and assessments in line with TAE requirements
  • Oversee and conduct required reviews

TRAINING

  • Training, including lecture preparation and delivery and support to students within VET/HE Diploma programs in line with AC’s workload model (face-to-face and/or online)
  • Assist with the maintenance of the resources for students
  • Continued professional engagement in the discipline area through ongoing scholarship and research

ASSESSING & MARKING

  • Assesses and marks assessments as allocated
  • Marking and provision of assessment feedback to students within VET/HE Diploma programs
  • Ensure the review of Extension Request and Academic Integrity

OTHER DUTIES

  • Actively participating in College community life
  • Representing the College to the Christian and Academic communities and general public as opportunity and occasion warrant
  • Fulfil other duties as required by supervisor

Required Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree from an Australian university or other recognised Australian or international institution of higher education
  • TAE qualification & experience
  • Commitment to the Christian faith that informs one’s professional and personal choices and commitments
  • Experience teaching in relevant disciplinary area
  • Successful experience in academic administration
  • Experience working with different stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
  • Experience in working with students
  • Understanding of Australian vocational education and training and higher education framework and standards
  • Understanding of course structure and requirements of AC’s VET programs in relevant School
  • Understanding of pathways to and from AC’s VET programs in relevant School
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with faculty, administrators, and external stakeholders where relevant
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and provide relevant information and support as required
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Strategic thinking and planning skills for continuous improvement of VET programs
  • Proven people skills grounded in a genuine respect for others and demonstrated in a range of contexts
  • Excellent time management skills
