About this Opportunity:

The Trainer & Assessor will deliver content and support students through their course of study and the formational process of becoming an aged care professional. The Trainer & Assessor will also assess to support the student’s learning and development, both in class and in organizational settings. They will work alongside other academic and administrative staff to ensure the development and delivery of courses are based on best practice and industry standards, informed by Christian principles.

Responsibilities:

COHORT TUTORING

  • Work with Allied Health Program Director and relevant program and project team staff to ensure content delivery, guidance and support are provided to students
  • Monitor, support and encourage students through active engagement inside and outside of formal learning times
  • Provide ongoing support for cohort students including intensive based support, clarification of learning material, placement support
  • Monitoring and administration of student progress
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of student learning resources
  • Facilitate training activities, and communication forums to enhance learning
  • Ensure the review of Extension Request and Academic Integrity
  • Participate in Student Progression meetings and other student related meetings

ASSESSING

  • Assesses training tasks as allocated in class and in institutional settings
  • Provides timely assessment feedback to students
  • Ensures the review of Extension Requests and Academic Integrity.

COURSE DEVELOPMENT

  • Upon request, developing course material suitable for the Cert III Individual Support award and/or Allied Health program, as directed by supervisor

OTHER DUTIES

  • Actively participating in College community life
  • Representing the College to the church and Academic communities and general public as opportunity and occasion warrant
  • Maintaining office hours at a campus or other location in hours approved by supervisor, and adequate to achieve necessary contact with students and fulfil academic responsibilities, as required
  • Fulfil other duties as required by supervisor

Required Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Completion of a relevant allied health qualification from a recognised Australian or international institution of higher education;
  • Completion or willingness to complete a Cert 4 TAE
  • Current APHRA registration as an allied health professional
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in teams and ability to operate in online settings.
  • Evidence of delivering successful training in vocational education, and of professional achievement;
  • Experience working with different stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
  • Experience in working with students, particularly in online settings.
  • Understanding of Australian VET Quality Framework
  • Understanding of course structure and requirements of AC’s VET programs in relevant School
  • Understanding of pathways to and from AC’s VET programs
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with faculty, administrators, and external stakeholders where relevant
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and provide relevant content, information and support as required
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Innovative thinking, good planning, and course administration skills for continuous improvement of programs
  • Proven people skills grounded in a genuine respect for others and demonstrated in a range of contexts
  • Excellent time management skills
