  3. Examine a broad range of social issues, impacting individuals communities, with consideration given to local and national responses and interventions;
  4. Critically analyse social differences and inequalities within Australia and consider the impact of individuals on social change.

  • The application of sociological theory to ‘real-world’ issues
  • How identity is influenced by social and cultural factors
  • Key identity markers in Australia such as: gender, sexuality, families, age, ethnicity, religion, sport
  • Exploration of social differences and inequalities in Australia in areas such as: class, gender, ethnicity, race, crime, technology
  • Understand social transformation
  • Explore ways each person can participate in social change
  • Understand the need for a broad range of interventions in people’s lives that work in conjunction with psychological interventions
  • Engaging with the broader public and policy realms
