Unit Content

Outcomes

1. Examine theories that underpin working with relationships and develop an understanding of the impact of systems and relationship challenges;
2. Develop knowledge and skills in relationship counselling based on a range of modalities, including assessment, treatment planning and intervention;
3. Analyse, critique and practice skills via counselling role plays based on acquired skills;
4. Develop resources to assist in relationships counselling, incorporating appropriate theories and practices.

4. Theories and skills for couple and relationship counselling
5. Psychoeducation for relationship work
6. Supervision
7. Specialised topics (e.g. sexual-based concerns, financial concerns)
8. Foundations for healthy relationships (e.g. communication)
9. The relationship between their own relationships and the potential for counter transference in counselling relationships
